Cox Gigablast is a Cox internet package that delivers speeds up to 1000 Mbps or “1 Gig.” With internet speeds this fast, you can connect more devices, enjoy more online activities and the reliable high-quality performance you’ve been seeking. 

Another benefit of Cox Gigablast is that you get access to free security and antivirus software. Keep in mind, however, that although Cox’s 1 Gig plan starts below $100/mo., after the first year the price will increase by around $20/mo.

How Cox Gigablast compares to other Gig plans

Nearly every major cable or fiber provider offers a gigabit plan. Cox’s version of gigabit service is fairly similar to other providers in many ways.

  • Starting price: $99.99/mo. is a little higher than most. Some providers offer gig service for around $80/mo.
  • Speeds: 1000 Mbps download is comparable to the competition; 35 Mbps upload is not. Providers like CenturyLink offer equal upload and download speeds of 940 Mbps.
  • Data caps: 1.25 TB/mo. is higher than most providers with a data cap, but many like Spectrum, Verizon and AT&T do not have data caps.
  • Equipment cost: $10.99/mo. is lower than most device rental fees and there’s an option to use your own.

Cox Gigablast vs. other Gig internet providers

Cox’s Gigablast plan is on the more expensive end when you compare it to other major providers. It also offers slower upload speeds than the other providers and imposes a data cap, which most other providers did not for their Gig plan.

Is Cox Gigablast available in my area?

Internet speeds up to 1000 Mbps are available in 97% of Cox coverage areas, according to the FCC. So if you live in an area serviceable for Cox internet, there is a good chance Gigablast will be available at your address.

No. Cox Gigablast is subject to the same data caps as other Cox plans, 1.25 TB/mo. Going over your data limit may result in an added fee of $10 per 50 GB block needed to compensate for your data overage.

With download speeds up to 1000 Mbps, Gigablast is the fastest internet plan from Cox. Upload speeds can reach 1000 Mbps or 35 Mbps, depending on which network type is available at your address.

In many locations, yes, Gigablast uses a fiber connection capable of delivering symmetrical download and upload speeds up to 1000 Mbps. In locations where Cox’s fiber network does not yet reach, Cox uses a cable network.
